Muriel Villanueva (Valencia, 1976) is a writer, author of more than fifty literary works for all ages, including novels, short stories, poetry, theater, short films and sound fiction, as well as short publications in anthologies and online, especially in the digital magazine Catorze and the Fiction Express platform. Among them are the novels La gatera, Duna, Dunes, El cel de l’aigua and Rut Sense Hac, the youth trilogy L’Esfera and the sound fiction Elyndor (3cat). She has earned more than fifteen awards, including the Llibreter, the J.M. Casero, the Crítica dels Escriptors Valencians, the Carlemany and the Atrapallibres.

She has been translated into Spanish, English, Portuguese, Polish, Korean and Chinese.

She holds a degree in Literary Theory and Comparative Literature from the University of Barcelona, ​​a diploma in Music Education from the University of Valencia, and has been trained in Family Constellations and Gestalt Therapy in the Systemic and Humanistic Space.

At the Ateneu Barcelonès Writing School, between 2001 and 2012, she took the courses Introduction to Narrative and Narrative (with Andreu Ayats), Novel I (with Jaume Cabré), Novel II (with Isidre Grau), Feature Film Script I (with Esther Cases) and TV Series Bibles (with Laia Aguilar and Isaac Palmiola). There, between 2007 and 2014, she taught the courses Introduction to Narrative, Narrative, Novel I, Short Story I, Novel II, Character Construction and Song Lyrics. She was also co-coordinator of the virtual campus and executive director of the European Association of Creative Writing Programmes. She currently accompanies creative writing processes and organizes workshops and residencies.

As for music, she has studied piano, singing, guitar, bass, saxophone and ukulele on a more or less formal basis. She has been part of her own groups and has occasionally been a chorister for Feliu Ventura and Obrint Pas.
